The superheated dry steam of the Polti Cimex Eradicator has proved to be the innovative and effective solution for eliminating the problem of bedbugs.

The special feature of this system is the type of steam which, after being generated inside a boiler as in conventional steam generators, is further superheated inside the delivery nozzle (patented by Polti) up to a maximum temperature of 180°C.
At the time of delivery, the steam is mixed with the HPMed cleaning solution, that can be delivered in the presence of people. The flow of steam at a temperature up to 180°C is able to kill the adult insects, the larval stages and the eggs by causing a thermal shock.


Laboratory tests demonstrate the effectiveness of Cimex Eradicator

Laboratory experiments and in the field tests have demonstrated the effectiveness of the superheated dry steam for the fast elimination of bedbug infestations.

In the laboratory tests (conducted by Pest2000 and Pest3000), a variety of different materials (wood, fabrics, metal, etc.) were used to artificially reproduce some of the most common places where bedbugs nest.

In each of these simulations the experimenters nested adult insects and larvae (tests conducted on bedbugs in their mobile stages) or pregnant females (tests conducted on eggs) in the materials.
A single treatment with superheated dry steam at a speed of about 10 cm/sec has been able to eliminate all the eggs and almost all the adult insects and larval stages.*

In the field tests, actual infested contexts were selected, such as hotels and private homes, and were treated with superheated dry steam.


Steam disinfests naturally and does not necessitate closure of premises

Unlike chemical products, which require three or four treatments to achieve complete disinfestation, the superheated dry steam of Polti Cimex Eradicator completely eliminated the infestation after two or three treatments. Targeted treatments with superheated dry steam were demonstrated to be effective for eliminating bedbugs and to to represent a faster alternative with lower environmental impact than use of potentially toxic chemicals.

In addition, disinfestation with conventional chemical insecticides requires complete evacuation of the premises and ventilation before they can be used again, involving lengthy waiting times.
The superheated dry steam can be used even when there are people in the room, as the mixture of superheated dry saturated steam and HPMED can be delivered when people are present.**

The effectiveness of the Polti Cimex Eradicator has been demonstrated by several laboratory tests.

The bacteria and fungi tested are responsible for various kinds of infection. They can be found frequently on household surfaces, in the filters of air-conditioning systems, in the drains of bathroom fixtures, on plants and even in water or in the soap.

The virucidal effectiveness of the Polti Cimex Eradicator & HPMED was evaluated in accordance with European standard EN 14476 (Quantitative suspension test for the evaluation of virucidal activity in the medical area).
Based on the results obtained, in the experimental condition adopted, the product under consideration Polti Cimex Eradicator & HPMED - Formula Sani System causes a reduction greater than or equal to 4 Log (99.99%) against Human Influenza Type A (H1N1) after 15 seconds of time or contact.

Evaluation of inhalation toxicity
